Since the Council of Europe commenced its session last morning, the absence of the delegates of Ukraine and Romania has been met with huge surprise and concern. For many hours information was scarce, but now one of the rumors has been confirmed by some credible sources. According to these claims, the delegate of Ukraine attached to the Council of Europe has been abducted, as they were en route to the current meeting.

The Ukrainian government and its UN mission are yet to make any official announcement, but some leaks give out a sense of concern, as no contact has been established with the delegate since last afternoon at about 18:30. At that point, the delegate was on the road with their Romanian colleague, so as for them to hold some discussions and head for the Suceava International Airport. Suceava, a town near the border with Ukraine, is a pivotal center for the refugee situation, hence both delegates were there during the past week to oversee some procedures and provide assistance, while also attaining valuable information for their upcoming duty in the Council. Among some disputable and bleak descriptions, what seems certain, is that someone approached their car on the road, stopped it and abducted Myron Mikhailichenko (Ukrainian delegate), as Iliana Budnarescu (Romanian delegate) was left powerless to resist.
Regarding the latter, it is rumored that she returned to her home in Bucharest in a state of shock and is due to make a public statement with representatives of the Romanian government, officially canceling her visit to Strasbourg for the session. Government sources quietly confirm the story, but urge all parts to respect the private space of Ms. Budnarescu, who has faced a strong psychological blow and needs some time before proceeding with revelations.
