CoEU Crisis Update 4 -"Hungarian response to Slovakia’s involvement; The Global Community reacts"

Hungary, less than an hour after closing their border, is initiating repatriation efforts. In a heated press conference, foreign minister Péter Szijjártó criticized Slovakia for their involvement in the incidents, threatening them with suspension of diplomatic relations and an exit from the Visegrad Initiative if another such incident occurs. Polish and Czech MPs have discretely voiced their support for Slovakia and are mostly advocating Hungary’s reconsideration. However, they have been stressing that spirits need to remain calm, in order to protect a -so far prolific- cooperation such as the one of the Visegrad Group. Reactions to Hungary’s actions around the world were also instant; Politicians across Europe and the US condemn Hungary’s decision and ask the EU to intervene to protect the refugee’s rights. Eurosceptics across Europe hailed Hungary’s actions though, as the recent economic crisis, a result of the rising gas prices and inflation, seem to re-ignite the movement. The Council of the European Union, currently in session, is expected to act on the issue in an effort to ease tensions.
