A plane crash occurred in the Rub al Khali desert, some miles away from the city Wadi al Dawasir, in Saudi Arabia. Reporters make word for several loud explosions that followed the crash, whereas rumours spread that the plane was carrying military equipment and ammunition. The Saudi authorities immediately rushed to the site of the crash, characterised the incident as “highly classified” and refused to share any information with the press “until the causes of the crash and the content of the aeroplane were completely clarified” .

The Saudi authorities also invited an American intelligence task force to aid them with the investigation. After several days of analysis, the Saudi MoD made the following comments: The black box and the pieces of documents aboard the plane, as well as the remnants of its hull and interior revealed that the plane was carrying military equipment. More specifically it carried a vast number of Russian-manufactured assault rifles, machine guns, mortars and anti-tank rifles, as well as a large quantity of ammunition.
The plane departed from the air base of Babruysk in Belarus, and headed for Qatar. The plane was headed for the base of Al Uwaynah, where, according to the documents, the cargo would be loaded into another plane and transported to Serbia. The documents made word of a plan for the weapons to arrive in a secret location near Nic, where they would be distributed to Serbian paramilitary groups by Russian agents. The whole plan was orchestrated, as shown by the documents, as well as from the origins of the plane, by the Russian Intelligence Services.
The documents also indicated several money transfers to mysterious destinations in Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia Herzegovina. The American task force’s experts insisted that those destinations were associated with paramilitary groups operating in Serbia and Kosovo, as well as politicians.
In its announcement, the Serbian Government stated that they had no knowledge of secret weapon shipments arriving in Serbian territory and questioned the credibility of the allegations made by the Saudi and the American authorities.
